Assisi Niketan Convent School, Mohanbari, Dibrugarh, was founded with the vision of providing quality, value-based education rooted in compassion, inclusivity, and excellence. This vision was inspired and guided by Rev. Sr. M. Samina FSMA and her councilors of the FSMA Congregation.
A core part of this vision was to create an inclusive learning environment that welcomed children with hearing and speech impairments, alongside others, fostering equal opportunities for all to grow and succeed.
On June 7, 2016, Sr. Samina, along with three sisters from Jaipur, arrived in Dibrugarh and began laying the foundation for the institution with the blessing and support of Right Rev. Bishop Joseph Aind, and through the efforts of Fr. Caesar Henry and Fr. Timothy Saldanha.
The foundation stone was laid on 11th December 2017 by Bishop Joseph Aind. The school stands today as a tribute to the unwavering dedication of the late Sr. M. Jullien FSMA, whose efforts were instrumental in establishing this nurturing and vibrant learning space.
The school was formally inaugurated and blessed on 6th October 2019 and began its educational journey in 2020 with 58 students, led by Rev. Sr. Salomi Antony FSMA, amidst the global pandemic. Despite the challenges, online classes commenced with enthusiasm and resilience.
From 2020 to 2024, Rev. Sr. Jessy FSMA served as Headmistress, guiding the institution through a phase of growth and development. Today, with over 230 students, including children with special needs, Assisi Niketan continues to blossom under the dynamic leadership of Sr. M. Gloria FSMA, who upholds the school’s motto, “Excelsior” – Yet Higher, striving for academic excellence, character formation, and holistic growth.
